The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution debuted in 1992 as a homologation model for the World Rally Championship (WRC). Even after departing the rally scene, the model continued its unique evolution until production ended in 2015, marking the close of an iconic chapter in Mitsubishi’s history.

Across ten generations, the Lancer Evolution can be divided into four major evolutionary stages. Among these, the Evolution III is often regarded as the pinnacle of the first generation. Compared to the earlier Evo I and Evo II models, it featured an aggressive exterior with enhanced aerodynamics and was offered in two grades: the street-oriented GSR and the competition-based RS.

This particular vehicle is a one-owner example from new, retaining its original Mikawa 53 two-digit license plate. Finished in the signature color Dandelion Yellow, it is a rare GSR-grade model with under 65,000 km on the odometer.

It was carefully maintained in an indoor garage, avoiding wet weather driving and limiting use to early mornings to prevent UV paint degradation. Consequently, the body remains in stunningly beautiful condition and has received a professional body coating from a renowned specialist shop in Aichi Prefecture.

Externally, the only change from stock is a pair of carbon-fiber aero mirrors, with the original mirrors carefully retained. Inside, the cabin remains remarkably well preserved, showing virtually no signs of wear despite the car’s age.

Peering into the engine bay, an HKS reinforced belt is visible through the clear timing belt cover, while the exhaust system features a Fujitsubo titanium-stainless hybrid muffler. Lightweight Racing Hart CP-035 wheels complete the setup, reflecting the owner’s dedication to performance — acceleration, braking, and cornering.

Accompanying the car is a thick, meticulously organised file prepared by the owner, containing the original purchase contract, contemporary catalogs, manuals for replaced parts, over 80 pages of maintenance records, and documents like the owner's manual, maintenance logbook, and warranty papers, all organized chronologically.


While not entirely original, this Evolution III with its carefully documented journey perfectly embodies the spirit of the Lancer Evolution’s philosophy: “Evolution Never Stops.”
