A product of Givoani Michelotti’s styling, the Prince Skyline Sports, is known as the car that started the movement to use international designers for Japanese cars. Unlike the domestic cars of the past, it is an authentic premium sports coupe, with Italian flavor poured into this elegant body design, exquisite real leather used for the interior, the true luxury feel was something unseen in previous Japanese cars.
The Skyline Sports comes with the characteristic almond-shaped headlight. A Gloria chassis equipped with 94ps 1862cc straight 4 engine. It also comes with a handmade elegant “Italian Body.” But due to the high cost and expensive pricing of being handmade (coupe’s were 1.85 million yen, convertible 1.95 million yen), the vehicle was not welcomed by the market, limiting the production number to only 60 (35 coupes, 25 convertibles).
Produced in 1961, this coupe with a beautiful off-white body, interior, engine and its related parts are all in very good condition and absolutely ready to enter a competition. Of course, it should be, since this example has a history of entering the annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’este (2009/Certificate of Participation, Authentication Sticker available) which is hosted at the lakeside of Lake Como. The first Japanese car to enter this world-class competition, the Villa d’este, is said to be this example.
The first Japanese car to obtain the beauty to compete against the world. The value of this car is certain to rise.
