The Z432, a high-performance model of the S30 Fairlady Z, was equipped with the 2.0L DOHC S20 engine, identical to the one used in the first-generation Skyline GT-R. Designed for racing, the Z432 provided exceptional performance on the road.
This race-ready base model, which was developed from the Z432, underwent significant weight reduction and modifications to be used as a foundation for motorsports. It featured FRP (fiberglass-reinforced plastic) panels on the hood and utilized 0.2mm thinner steel for the body panels compared to the standard S30 Fairlady Z. The side and rear windows were replaced with lightweight acrylic, resulting in a total weight reduction of over 100kg.
In addition, this model was equipped with a 100L fuel tank specifically designed for endurance racing, as opposed to the standard 60L tank.
While the engine remained the same as the Z432, with a maximum output of 160ps and 18kgm of torque, it was designed to be tuned further for racing purposes. As a result, the air cleaner was removed, and the carburetor funnels were left exposed.
The interior was also simplified for racing, with no comfort features like a radio or heater. Instead, the car was equipped with full bucket seats without reclining functions, reflecting its Spartan design. With the addition of a roll cage, this car was ready for racing without the need for additional modifications.
This specific car, with the chassis number PS30-00262, is an authentic example of this rare race-based model. It has been modified with Weber carburetors instead of the original SOLEX carburetors and has swapped the magnesium wheels for steel wheels, yet it retains its identity as a genuine race-prepared R model.
