"FIA homologated racing E-Type"
This beautiful 1963 Jaguar E-Type Competition Coupe in metallic blue is a race-ready vehicle that received its homologation in June 2007 for participation in the Historic GT races. It is eligible to compete in FIA-sanctioned historic sports car races.
The distinctive body color of this car is Flag Metallic Blue, used by the legendary Scottish privateer team, Ecurie Ecosse, during the 1956 and 1957 Le Mans 24-hour races, where they secured two consecutive wins with the Jaguar D-Type. This color is tied to the team's iconic legacy in motorsport history.
While Jaguar was heavily involved in racing with the D-Type, achieving three consecutive Le Mans victories, the company was less committed to entering the E-Type in racing events. Instead, they provided support to privateer teams, helping them compete at the highest level.
To compete with the later-debuted Ferrari 250 GTO, Jaguar implemented several evolutionary measures, which led to the creation of multiple racing versions of the E-Type that are still highly regarded today.
This particular car is equipped with a 3.8-liter inline 6-cylinder DOHC engine. While the road-going versions of the E-Type used SU carburetors, this racing model has been upgraded with larger Weber 45DCOE carburetors, enhancing the engine's power.
In order to handle the increased power, the car's body combines aluminum and steel, with acrylic windows and various other lightweight modifications, bringing the total weight down to 920kg.
The engine's power is transmitted to the road via a 4-speed manual transmission, and Dunlop racing tires are mounted on 15“ x 7J front and 15” x 7.5J rear wheels.
The front tires are 5.50 M-15 and the rear tires are 6.00 M-15.
Jaguar’s D-Type was the first car to feature 4-wheel disc brakes, and this E-Type also incorporates the strong Dunlop disc brakes, with a 292 mm diameter for the front and 254 mm for the rear, offering powerful stopping performance for its time.
As described, this car has undergone numerous racing modifications, ensuring it is fully prepared for competitive racing. It comes with the necessary FIA homologation documents, so it is ready to participate in FIA-sanctioned races without any concerns.
With its classic shape and striking Flag Metallic Blue color, this coupe is not only stunning to look at in a garage but will undoubtedly shine even more when racing down the track.
