CITY CIRCUIT TOKYO BAY AUCTION

1984 Nissan Silvia JSS Race Car

  • Engine starts
  • “Hoshino Impul” Silvia
  • Raced in JSS (Japan Supersports Sedan)
  • Vintage IMPUL wheels

The JSS race series was considered to be Japan’s top touring car championship following the end of Group 5 racing in Japan which was known as Super Silhouette.

While JSS cars were technically based on production cars, there was a lot more freedom in the regulations relative to the popular Group A cars. This is evident just by looking at the massive over- fenders and wings. JSS cars were later able to participate in JGTC (Japan GT Championship) and were the predecessors of GT300 cars.

This car is a “Hoshino Impul” Silvia JSS made by Kazuyoshi Ho- shino and driven by Masahiko Kondo in its last race.
The eye-catching white body with yellow lightning bolts on either side is a nostalgic livery for many enthusiasts. The IMPUL wheels are genuine ones from the era, the ones that were actually raced are also included. As an original race car, it has scratches and marks on both the interior and exterior which gives it a real sense of its heyday.

The JSS series was popular for its flashy cars and impressive lineup of drivers and this Silvia is the perfect example of the series and those times. The engine starts and the sound from the side exhausts along with the livery, are capable of transporting people back in time like a time machine.
