BH AUCTION 1.10 at City Circuit Tokyo Bay

1972 Nissan Fairlady Z432R

  • Lightweight Competition Base Model of the Z432
  • Body Panels Made from Steel 0.2 mm Thinner Than Standard
  • Over 100 kg Lighter Than the Base Z432
  • Equipped with a 100-Liter Endurance Racing Fuel Tank
  • Extremely Rare – Estimated Production of Just 30 to 50 Units

The Z432, powered by the same 2.0-liter DOHC S20 engine found in the first-generation Skyline GT-R, was Nissan’s high-performance flagship version of the S30 Fairlady Z.
From this already rare model, Nissan developed an even more focused racing variant: the Z432R.

As a competition base model, the 432R received extensive weight reduction measures.
These included an FRP bonnet, body panels made from steel 0.2 mm thinner than standard, and lightweight acrylic side and rear windows engraved with the Nissan logo.
In total, the 432R shed more than 100 kg compared with the Z432.
Additionally, a special 100-liter fuel tank—designed for endurance racing—was installed in place of the standard 60-liter unit.

Although the engine architecture remained the same as the Z432, the 432R was delivered in a “tuning-ready” state. The air cleaner was omitted, leaving the carburetor funnels exposed for competition use.
The current owner once experimented with an air cleaner for road driving but was dissatisfied with both performance and appearance, ultimately commissioning a bespoke unit produced to original 432R standards.

The quoted output—160 ps and 18 kgm—remained unchanged, but the focus of the 432R was uncompromising lightweight construction.
The interior was stripped of comfort equipment such as a radio and heater, and the cabin was left ready for immediate race entry with the simple addition of a roll cage.
A fixed-back bucket seat with no recline function was standard; this car retains the original seat (retrimmed), and the driver’s seat—replaced to prevent deterioration—has its factory unit preserved separately.

This example carries the chassis number PS30-00218, confirming it as a genuine 432R.
Remarkably, the chassis number has been factory re-stamped, and it is said that this is the only known 432R featuring the Nissan logo above the re-stamped number—a detail that gives this car a truly unique identity.

A highly collectible example combining the rarity of the 432R, exceptional originality, and a one-of-a-kind chassis identifier—an opportunity unlikely to be repeated.
